Grandad's family present.

A gentleman contacted me and explained that he had recently become a Grandad for the second time.

He said that he would like a gift for the new baby’s family. The “new family” now consisted of two adults and three children plus his new grandchild.

After chatting with for him for a while, I suggested a tree of life. I explained that the main branches of the tree could contain the four names of the children.

He liked this idea.

He went on the say that he wanted the mosaic to incorporate the parents. I suggested that the parents could be represented by two birds flying over the tree, as if they are guarding over the children.

He liked this idea.

I then suggested that the children’s names could be spelt in their favourite colours, and the new baby could be a mix of colours.

He liked this idea.

A couple of days later I emailed across a design board showing the materials I was thinking of using. Along with an explanation of materials on the board ie brown pottery for the tree trunk and branches, blue and white glass for the sky and beads for the flowers.

He liked this idea.

Grandad found out the colours for the lettering and asked me to go ahead and make the mosaic.

I liked this idea.
